BLACKPINK’s “Kill This Love” new record march…long-term Billboard Chart

Kill This Love, the flagship song of the group Black Pink, is dominating the U.S. Billboard chart for a long time.

According to Forbes on the 16th (local time), “Kill This Love” became the third K-pop song to maintain its ranking on the “World Digital Song Sales” chart on Billboard for a year.

“Kill This Love,” the title track of BLACKPINK’s album “Kill This Love,” released on April 5 last year, maintained its ranking for 52 weeks on “World Digital Song Sales.” The chart ranks the best-selling foreign music in the United States.

The first K-pop song to maintain its ranking on the chart for a year is “I Am the Best” by “2NE1,” a senior girl group from Black Pink’s agency YG Entertainment. It has survived more than 120 weeks on the chart, and has been on the charts for the longest time among girl groups. It is the longest record including K-pop female solo and group.

Black Pink holds the second-place record. “DDU-DU DDU-DU DDU-DU,” the title track of “Square Up,” released on June 15, 2018, has been on the charts for about 70 weeks. In other words, “Kill This Love” is closely chasing “DDU-DU DDU-DU.”

Its “Kill This Love” single and album hit the world last year. It simultaneously entered 41st and 24th place on Billboard’s main single chart “Hot 100” and main album chart “Billboard 200,” respectively, marking the first and highest ranking record for a K-pop girl group. It also set the longest record for a K-pop girl group, charting in both charts for four consecutive weeks.

In addition to “Kill This Love,” the latest global music streaming platform “Spotify” is also the first single K-pop girl group to surpass 300 million streams. The music video currently has 800 million views on YouTube.

Forbes predicted that the propaganda of “Kill this Love” will continue. “No one can tell how much longer ‘Kill This Love’ will stay on the chart.”

Forbes also praised Black Pink on the 15th (local time), calling it the “most successful K-pop girl group of all time” and saying, “Kill this love has left a rare achievement in the performance of Korean singers.” He also said he will continue to soothe his disappointment with the song until BLACKPINK releases a new song.

BLACKPINK has established itself as one of the top global girl groups in name and reality, completing 32 world tours in 23 cities on four continents and four dome tours in three cities in Japan.

On March 24, the music video for “DDU-DU DDU-DU” surpassed 1.1 billion views on YouTube. It is the first of its kind among K-pop boy and girl groups. I’m currently working on a new album. It will break the K-pop girl group’s own record in “Hot 100” and “Billboard 200,” the music industry expects.
