Southern California has been hit by a series of brazen armored truck robberies over the past year, and the FBI is seeking the public’s help in tracking down the perpetrators. The so-called “Chesapeake Bandits” have been linked to at least three robberies in Los Angeles County between February 2022 and February 2023, with the most recent attack occurring in Inglewood.

According to officials, the group targets armored trucks when they service drive-thru ATMs or when the drivers are exiting businesses. Once they have the drivers in their sights, they zip-tie them and hold them at gunpoint while others get into the truck and make off with the money. Although the robbers have so far avoided harming anyone, officials warn that they should be considered armed and dangerous.

To aid in their investigation, the FBI is offering a $25,000 reward for information on the “Chesapeake Bandits.” Anyone who has seen anything suspicious or has information about the robberies is urged to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or tips.fbi.gov. The public is also reminded to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
