General Mills has issued a voluntary recall of Gold Medal flour due to concerns of Salmonella. The recall affects specific date codes of Gold Medal flour products, after samples tested positive for Salmonella Infantis.
The affected products include Gold Medal Unbleached and Bleached All Purpose Flour in five and ten-pound bags. General Mills advises consumers to check their pantries for affected products and to dispose of them.
Salmonella infection can cause symptoms such as diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps, and in the case of Salmonella Infantis, can last four to seven days. It is recommended that products be baked or boiled to kill the bacteria.
