
(G)I-DLE, #1 iTunes album in 58 countries…the highest record among the Korean girl groups
Girl group (G)I-DLE’s new album topped iTunes’ top album charts in 58 regions around the world, breaking the record for Korean girl groups.
According to its agency Cube Entertainment, (G)I-DLE’s third mini-album “I Trust,” released on the 6th, topped iTunes’ top album charts in 58 regions around the world as of 9 a.m. on the 10th.
Immediately after its release, “I Trust” set its own record by topping iTunes’ top album charts in 39 regions, and continued to add top-ranked regions afterwards.
Based on Hanteo Chart, a local music sales website, the album has also surpassed 100,000 cumulative sales.
Analysts say (G)I-DLE showed a clear upward trend with the new album, which was written and composed by leader Soyeon. Its title track “Oh My God” has also drawn attention for its unique song development, including bold rhythm changes, and intense visual images of the music video.
The music video for “Oh My God” surpassed 42 million views on YouTube just four days after its release.
