The Loyola High School baseball team is mourning the tragic loss of one of their own, 18-year-old Ryan Times, who was killed by a train during his spring break trip in Carlsbad. The incident occurred on April 11 when Times was struck by a commuter train on the tracks south of Tamarack Avenue.
Friends and family of the victim, who had played with the Loyola baseball team for the past two seasons, have been devastated by the loss. In response, the team released a statement on social media expressing their grief and dedication to honor Times’ memory by finishing the season strong.
“Fly high, Ryan. We love you,” the team tweeted on April 29.
Times’ parents, Brent and Christine, and his sisters Jessica, Halie, and Kendall survive him. The Loyola community and beyond continue to offer condolences and support to the family and loved ones of the young athlete during this difficult time.
