J-Hope, a member of the global super group BTS, has achieved solo success with his latest single ‘On the Street’ featuring J. Cole. The track debuted at number 60 on Billboard’s ‘Hot 100’ chart, and also achieved its own best performance on the UK Official Latest Singles Top 100 chart, ranking at 37th.
‘On the Street’ is a lo-fi hip-hop genre with an easy-to-listen melody and warm lyrics that harmonize together perfectly. J-Hope’s contribution to the writing and composing of the lyrics has infused the song with a message of hope and warmth, which is characteristic of his style. The collaboration with J. Cole is another major highlight of the track.
This is not the first time J-Hope has made an appearance on Billboard’s ‘Hot 100’ as a solo artist. He has previously ranked 81st with ‘CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP’ featuring Latino American singer Becky G, and he also entered the chart with the double title song and pre-release song ‘More’ from his first official solo album ‘Jack in the Box’ released in July last year. ‘MORE’ ranked 82nd and ‘Arson’ ranked 96th. As a member of BTS, J-Hope has already ranked 1st in six songs on ‘Hot 100’.
Along with this recent achievement, J-Hope, including BTS, has become the K-pop singer with the fourth most songs on the ‘Hot 100’. BTS has posted 26 songs on the chart, which is the most among K-pop teams. The second is K-pop’s representative girl group ‘Black Pink’, which has a total of 9 songs, and Psy of ‘Gangnam Style’ followed with 5 songs.
This new milestone for J-Hope demonstrates his unique musical style and growing influence as a solo artist. Fans of BTS and J-Hope can look forward to more great music from this talented artist in the future.
