Although retired since 2010, Ken Griffey Jr. remains on the Cincinnati Reds payroll, earning over $3.5M this year as the fourth highest-paid player. The Reds signed him in 2000 to a nine-year, $112.5M deal, and he receives deferred payment from 2009 to 2024.
Griffey was a three-time All-Star with the Reds and hit 210 home runs and 602 RBIs in 945 games with the team. He finished his career as a 13-time All-Star, one-time MVP and a 10-time Gold Glove winner, and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2016.
