Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann’s Divorce: What Went Wrong

After over a decade together, "Real Housewives" star Kim Zolciak and husband Kroy Biermann are reportedly calling it quits. Here's why.

Fans of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kim Zolciak and her husband, former NFL player Kroy Biermann, were stunned when news broke of their impending divorce. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Zolciak filed for divorce on April 30, citing an irretrievably broken marriage with no hope of reconciliation.

While Zolciak has requested primary physical custody of their four children and joint legal custody, financial issues may further complicate the divorce proceedings. Zolciak and Biermann reportedly owe over $1.1 million in unpaid taxes, interest, and penalties to the IRS from 2013, 2017, and 2018. They also reportedly owe $15,000 in unpaid taxes to the state of Georgia for 2018. Additionally, their Atlanta area home was foreclosed on in February.

So, what went wrong in the couple’s relationship? While neither party has publicly commented on the reasons behind their split, rumors of marital strife have surfaced in the past. In 2018, Biermann was caught up in a cheating scandal when allegations emerged that he had exchanged explicit texts with a woman he had met at a casino.

Despite this, the couple appeared to have weathered the storm and even renewed their vows in 2017. However, their financial troubles may have added further strain to their already-tense relationship.

Zolciak and Biermann met at a charity event in 2010 and got married the following year. They went on to star in their own spinoff show, “Don’t Be Tardy,” which aired from 2012 to 2020.

As the divorce proceedings continue, fans will undoubtedly be following along with interest to see what the future holds for Zolciak, Biermann, and their family.
