The Department of Transportation will post signs giving notice of the "tow away, no parking" restrictions for oversized vehicles.

The Los Angeles City Council has passed a resolution prohibiting RVs from parking on several streets in Venice between the hours of 2 to 6 a.m. The ban, which includes but is not limited to vehicles that are six feet or more in height, was implemented due to public safety concerns. Councilwoman Traci Park, who represents the Eleventh District, presented the resolution.

According to the resolution, oversized vehicles that are often parked overnight can obstruct travel lanes, creating dangerous road conditions. The ban aims to address these issues and create a safer environment for pedestrians and motorists in the area.

Under the resolution, the city’s Department of Transportation will post signs giving notice of the “tow away, no parking” restrictions for oversized vehicles. Additionally, the department will have the authority to make technical corrections or clarifications to the resolution as needed to ensure its intent is fully enforced.

The ban applies to several road segments, including both sides of Main Street between Rose Avenue and Sunset Avenue, Superior Avenue between Venice Boulevard and Victoria Avenue, and Indiana Avenue between 5th Avenue and 4th Avenue, among others.

The Eleventh District encompasses several neighborhoods, including Brentwood, Del Rey, Ladera, Mar Vista, Pacific Palisades, Playa del Rey, Playa Vista, Venice, West Los Angeles/Sawtelle, and Westchester. The ban on RV parking is intended to improve public safety and ensure that travel lanes are not obstructed by oversized vehicles.

While the ban may cause inconvenience to some RV owners, it is an important measure to protect the safety of all those who use the streets of Venice. The City Council hopes that the implementation of this ban will help to alleviate the public safety concerns associated with oversized vehicle parking and create a safer environment for all.
