Manhunt underway for suspect who shot two 17-year-olds in Laguna Hills

A manhunt is underway for Luis Angel Martinezmondragon, charged with shooting two 17-year-olds in Laguna Hills, leaving one critically injured. The suspect is facing several recent drug and weapon charges.

A manhunt is currently underway for Luis Angel Martinezmondragon, who has been charged with shooting two 17-year-olds in Laguna Hills on Saturday night. One of the victims is currently in critical condition, while the other is expected to survive their injuries.

Martinezmondragon, a 21-year-old from Aliso Viejo, is facing two counts each of assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury and assault with a firearm, all of which are felonies. He has been charged with several drug and weapon charges in recent months.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the shooting occurred around 10:05 p.m. in the 25000 block of Alicia Parkway, near the Laguna Hills Community Center. A quinceañera party was taking place at the community center when the shots were fired, but it is unclear whether the shooting is linked to the event in any way.

Martinezmondragon was arrested in Aliso Viejo around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, but he managed to post bail on March 29th after being arrested on March 23rd. He is currently being held on a $1 million bail.

In addition to the recent shooting, Martinezmondragon has also been charged with several other crimes, including possession of a deadly weapon, nitrous oxide, and vandalism. He was charged with possessing a switchblade, a substance similar to toluene, and selling nitrous oxide in December 2021. He was also charged with possessing nitrous oxide and a substance similar to toluene in September and July of last year, respectively.

Authorities are urging anyone with information on Martinezmondragon’s whereabouts to come forward and contact the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
