FBI agents arrested Massachusetts Air National Guardsman Jack Douglas Teixeira on Thursday for allegedly leaking classified national defense information. The 21-year-old’s security clearance and access to classified government systems have been revoked. Teixeira, who was most recently stationed at Otis Air National Guard Base, was promoted to Airman 1st Class in July. He is accused of being the leader of a private Discord group called “Thug Shaker Central,” which allegedly shared classified documents.
The leaks, which concern Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and other sensitive topics, have been described as potentially more damaging than those of Edward Snowden.
