A meticulously planned school shooting in Belgrade, Serbia left eight students and a school guard dead, and six children and a teacher hospitalized.
The assailant, Kosta Kecmanovic, a 13-year-old student at the Vladislav Ribnikar school, was armed with his father’s licensed handgun.
Kecmanovic had drawn sketches of the classrooms and written a list of children he intended to “liquidate” during the attack, which he had planned for a month. While mass shootings are rare in Serbia, experts warn of the danger posed by the large number of weapons in the country, following the wars of the 1990s.
