On Sunday morning, tragedy struck a family from Anaheim as they were driving along the 10 Freeway near Palm Springs. The crash, which involved a black Tesla and a red Chevy Suburban, resulted in the deaths of a 10-year-old girl, a 12-year-old girl, and a 33-year-old woman from the family.
According to Jason Montez with the California Highway Patrol’s San Gorgonio Pass Office, one of the vehicles changed lanes and collided with the other. The impact caused the Suburban to lose control, hit the center divider, and flip. In total, five people were thrown from the vehicle, with two being ejected upon impact.
The accident left three other people with major injuries and several others with minor injuries. The incident closed three lanes of the 10 Freeway until officials could investigate the scene.
As the Anaheim family mourns the loss of their loved ones, officials are reminding drivers to stay vigilant on the road and avoid distractions.
