A fire broke out in a strip mall in Upland, causing the roof of a commercial building to collapse overnight. Firefighters from the San Bernardino County Fire Department were dispatched to the scene just before 2:45 a.m. on Wednesday at the intersection of North Mountain Avenue and West Arrow Highway.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a medium-sized commercial building with heavy smoke and called for additional units for the second-alarm fire. Because of the intense fire conditions, firefighters fought the flames defensively. The fire was finally declared a knockdown later in the morning, after several hot spots continued to flare up.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. However, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
