Arrest Made in Connection with San Pedro Beach Shooting that Injured Five

Police have made an arrest in connection with a shooting at Royal Palms Beach in San Pedro that left five men injured, prompting restricted hours at the location. The suspect's identity has not been released, but more details are expected at a press conference on Wednesday.

On March 4th, the shooting occurred when two groups of people got into a verbal and physical altercation, leading to gunfire and the injury of five individuals. All victims were hospitalized, and the current status of two of them is unknown.

Following the shooting, officials announced restricted hours at the beach to ensure public safety. City Councilman Tim McOsker and county Supervisor Janice Hahn are expected to discuss the arrest at a press conference.

In a statement, Hahn said, “We need to balance preserving access to this beach with the demands of public safety… Closing the beach early on weekends is going to help us prevent another tragedy while we work with law enforcement on a long-term strategy.”

The shooting is a concerning incident, and the recent gun-buyback event held in San Pedro ironically occurred just hours before the shooting. Authorities are investigating the matter and will provide updates as they become available.
