Riverside City College was on lockdown on Tuesday morning following an “unspecified incident” that resulted in a heavy police presence near the college football field. Police officers were able to track a man, who was armed with a knife, to one of the storm drains along the school’s campus. A shelter-in-place order was issued for the north campus at around 9:30 a.m.
After a few hours of intense police presence and negotiations, the suspect was taken into custody. The authorities gave the all-clear and lifted the lockdown around 12:30 p.m. The isolated incident was finally resolved, and all operations are resuming as normal, according to school officials.
