Magic Johnson joins investment group to bid for NFL team

Magic Johnson, co-owner of LA Dodgers and LA Football Club, may become a part-owner of NFL team Washington Commanders with a $6bn bid in a bidding war.

Magic Johnson could soon become part owner of an NFL team as he is part of an investment group interested in purchasing the Washington Commanders.

The asking price for the Commanders is set at $6 billion, and the group including Johnson has submitted a fully-financed bid to match it.

However, they face competition from Canadian billionaire Steve Apostolopoulos, who also submitted a $6 billion offer. If the sale goes through, it would be the most expensive sale of an NFL team, breaking the current record of $4.65 billion paid for the Denver Broncos.
