A tragic incident in northwestern Massachusetts has left a 2-year-old boy from Vermont dead. According to reports, the child was found dead in a brook early Saturday morning, and authorities suspect that the boy’s father may have dropped him there as he fled the scene of a car crash.
The incident occurred in Clarksburg, where Massachusetts State Police troopers were called just before 2 a.m. on Saturday. When they arrived, they learned that the 2-year-old boy was missing, and a search of the nearby Hudson Brook was launched.
Unfortunately, the child was found in the brook and was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital. A preliminary investigation by the police suggests that the boy’s father, 35-year-old Darel A. Galorenzo from Readsboro, Vermont, likely dropped him into the waterway as he fled the scene of the crash on foot.
Galorenzo was found nearby and taken into custody, charged with operating under the influence. Police have also indicated that additional charges related to the child’s death are expected to be brought against him.
