Tragedy Strikes: 94-Year-Old Man Loses Life in Colorado Creek Accident

A 94-year-old man was swept away and died after backing his ATV into a creek in Colorado, according to authorities.

On Saturday afternoon around 3:15 p.m. local time, the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting an older male who had accidentally backed his ATV into West Creek while working on his property. The man and his vehicle were swept away by the current.

Several agencies conducted a search and found the man about a quarter-mile downstream. Unfortunately, he was found unconscious and not breathing. Despite the first responders’ attempts at life-saving measures, they were unable to revive him.

The tragedy is a reminder of the importance of safety when operating vehicles near bodies of water, especially for older individuals. The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office urged people to take extra precautions and stay alert while enjoying outdoor activities.
