A joyous celebration turned into a nightmare when a 9-year-old girl in Argentina was attacked by four dogs at a family birthday party. According to local media, the incident occurred in the town of Valle Hermoso, located in the Cordoba province of Argentina, on Sunday afternoon.
The young victim remains in critical condition in the hospital’s intensive care unit, where she is fighting for her life. Her grandmother, who was also at the party, recounted the harrowing incident to reporters. “We went to celebrate my sister’s birthday, and I took my granddaughter with me. Her mother wasn’t able to attend. We were having a good time, eating and enjoying ourselves, when suddenly my granddaughter was nowhere to be seen. I went outside to look for her and found four dogs attacking her,” she said.
The dogs, which were reportedly vaccinated and known to the family, included two Labrador Retrievers and two Belgian Shepherds. The victim’s father, Gaston, said that his daughter had played with the dogs many times before and had even gone outside to play with them the day before the attack. “I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. In just one moment, my daughter was gone, and when I went outside, I saw that she had been attacked by these dogs,” he said.
Following the attack, all four dogs were euthanized at the owner’s decision. The incident has sparked debate and concern about dog ownership and responsibility in Argentina.
The young girl’s injuries were severe, and she had to undergo surgery to amputate one of her arms. She remains in critical condition in the hospital’s intensive care unit, where she is dependent on a respirator due to the severity of her internal and external injuries.
The hospital staff described her condition as “very critical.” Her father expressed his hope for her recovery, saying, “We’ll have to wait at least two days to know the results, but I believe my daughter will pull through. It was supposed to be a happy celebration, but it turned into a nightmare.”
The incident serves as a tragic reminder of the importance of dog safety and responsibility, especially when it comes to children.
