Police have sent a group of people suspected of stealing about 500 million won by deceiving investors, saying they have exclusive rights to BTS’ overseas performances.
According to the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul on the 10th, the police indicted three people, including a 45-year-old man surnamed Kang, who is suspected of violating the law on the aggravated punishment of certain economic crimes, forging private documents and exercising false investigation documents, and sent them to the Seoul Western District Prosecutors’ Office.
They are accused of defrauding investors that they hold BTS’ exclusive agent rights to perform overseas performances and misappropriating around 500 million won in investment. The amount of damage reported to Yongsan Police Station is 500 million won, but the total amount of damage is expected to reach about 5 billion won.
Kang’s group induced small and medium-sized agencies in Korea to invest. At that time, BTS’ agency Big Hit Entertainment was found to have used an overseas performance contract written by stealing the internal document form.
Their scam was previously reported in a media outlet last year, when Big Hit said it did not sign an exclusive contract and that it would take legal action in case of related damage.
