Apple announced on the 30th that it will hold its annual developer event, the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2023, at Apple Park in Cupertino, California from June 5 to 9.
WWDC is usually held in September or October, along with the launch of new iPhone products, and is Apple’s biggest annual event of the year.
Developers from around the world are invited to showcase the next versions of operating systems for key products such as the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch, and introduce new software (SW) features.
Workshops and sessions are also held to support developers in creating new apps using Apple’s software tools. This year, Apple is expected to unveil its mixed reality (MR) headset at the event.
According to Bloomberg, Apple has set the MR headset release date for the first day of the event, June 5th. Originally slated for release in June of last year, the headset, which Apple began developing in 2015, was postponed until April of this year before being pushed back to June.
The MR headset is a major new product from Apple, eight years after the introduction of the Apple Watch, and is expected to be a stepping stone for new growth as the company is experiencing a slowdown.
Susan Prescott, Apple’s Vice President, said, “WWDC is a great opportunity to meet talented developers in person and online, making the worldwide community even more special.”
