BLACKPINK wrote another new record in K-Pop girl group history on UK’s Official Singles Charts with their collaborative song ‘Sour Candy’ with Lady Gaga.

According to UK’s Official Charts on the 5th(local time), BLACKPINK and Lady Gaga’s ‘Sour Candy’ entered the Official Singles Chart Top 40 as no. 17.

As a result, BLACKPINK became the first-ever K-Pop girl group to enter UK’s Official Singles Top 40 Chart 3 times. Although it is a collaborative song with Lady Gaga, their rank on the chart is the highest in all of BLACKPINK’s releases as well.

BLACKPINK has previously become the first-ever K-Pop group to enter UK’s ‘Official Singles Top 100’ with their song ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ back in 2018.

The group was then ranked at no. 33 on the according chart with their song ‘Kill This Love’ back in 2019 to set the best record in K-Pop girl group history, and entered the chart once again with the song ‘Kiss and Make Up’ collaborated with Dua Lipa, the British singer-songwriter, as no. 36.

BLACKPINK’s influential power has been proven also in the US, the country that is regarded as two of the biggest Pop markets along with the UK. ‘Sour Candy’ was ranked at no. 25 on the US Billboard Digital Song Sales chart, announced on the 3rd.

Furthermore, the song was ranked at no. 8 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, and BLACKPINK was the first K-Pop girl group to be listed on the according chart.

Forbes reviewed, “Although the record accounted for during Billboard’s aggregating period was only one day, the group achieved amazing results”. They forecasted, “With the current rate, it is possible that ‘Sour Candy’ will enter the ‘Billboard Hot 100 chart’ after a week. It will be another historical moment for BLACKPINK”.

Their success on Spotify, the world’s biggest music platform, is also worthy of attention. At the time of the surprise release of ‘Sour Candy’ last month on the 28th(KST), the song was ranked at no. 2 on Spotify’s Global Top 50 chart, no. 3 on the US Top 50 chart, no. 4 on the Canada Top 50 chart, and no. 5 on the UK Top 50 chart, dominating charts of many major country charts.

They are also showing off their influence as the ‘YouTube Queens’. Although only an Audio Video of ‘Sour Candy’ was released without a special video, it is heading towards 100 million views. The 21.8 million views the video accumulated for 24 hours since the song was released is known as the best record among all records set by collaborations between female artists.

With their comeback in June imminent, BLACKPINK has raised their presence in the global music market with their song ‘Sour Candy’. Following their collaboration with Lady Gaga, the anticipation on BLACKPINK’s new release has gotten higher.

After the release of their pre-release title song this month, the group has noticed to release their second title song between July~August in special format, which will be followed up by their first-ever official album release upcoming in September. Following the release of their album, solo tracks by ROSÉ·LISA·JISOO will be released in sequential order.
