German Chancellor Angela Merkel appeared optimistic about the resolution, though she was concerned about the ruling by Germany’s Constitutional Court, which judged the European Central Bank’s quantitative easing policy partly unconstitutional.
The German Constitutional Court recently ruled that the ECB’s public bond purchase programs, including state bonds, were unconstitutional, saying that the move went beyond the ECB’s authority.
In doing so, the German Constitutional Court gave the ECB three months to justify buying bonds
