Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, recently announced that the social media platform will soon introduce audio and video call capabilities. According to Musk, Twitter users will be able to communicate with anyone around the world without needing to share their phone number.
In addition to the new communication features, Musk also revealed plans to add encryption to direct messages (DMs) on the platform. He emphasized that this encryption feature will be “sophisticated and rapidly evolving” and that even if someone held a gun to his head, they would not be able to view a user’s DMs.
On September 9th, Twitter expanded its DM response feature to allow users to respond to any message, not just the most recent one, and increased the number of available emojis.
Musk also opened up the possibility of adding a dating app feature to Twitter. When asked about a suggestion from YouTuber and content creator Steven Mark Ryan to create an opt-in dating app, Musk responded that it was an interesting idea, but one that could be a challenge to implement.
