Robert De Niro, one of the most celebrated actors in Hollywood, has just announced that he is now a father for the seventh time at the age of 79. The surprising news was revealed during an interview with CNN to promote his upcoming comedy film “About My Father.”
When the interviewer introduced De Niro as a father of six, he quickly corrected them, stating, “Actually, seven. I recently had a child.” The gender of the child and the identity of the mother were not disclosed during the interview.
De Niro was previously known to have six children from two former wives and a former girlfriend. He had two children, Drena (51) and Raphael (46), with his first wife, and four children, twins Julian and Aaron (27), Elliot (24), and Helen (11), with his second wife.
Despite the news being unexpected, De Niro seems to be taking it all in stride. He told AP that being a father is “always a joy and a mystery,” and he has no idea what the future holds. During the CNN interview, De Niro also joked that he doesn’t necessarily think he’s a great father, saying, “I love Helen very much, but she can also make me sad sometimes.” He also mentioned that he frequently argues with his children, and having a new baby in the house is sure to bring even more challenges.
De Niro is a veteran actor with an impressive filmography that includes classics such as “Taxi Driver” (1976), “Raging Bull” (1980), and “The Godfather: Part II” (1974). He has won numerous accolades throughout his career, including two Academy Awards for Best Actor and the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor. Despite his success, it seems that De Niro’s greatest role might just be that of a father.
