KakaoPay, the mobile payment subsidiary of South Korea’s leading messenger app operator, has received the ISO 14001 certification for its sustainable business practices. The certification is awarded by the Korea Productivity Center Certification Institute, an independent third-party organization that evaluates and certifies businesses’ environmental management systems based on the international standard set by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
The ISO 14001 certification evaluates a company’s environmental management policies, objectives, and organizational structures for achieving them. Through the certification process, KakaoPay has demonstrated its commitment to managing environmental risks and reducing its carbon footprint.
KakaoPay plans to focus on developing and investing in sustainable services that contribute to environmental sustainability under its ESG management policy, prioritizing efficient energy usage to combat climate change. To achieve this goal, the company has established an environmental management system that includes environmental impact assessments, target management, and internal audits.
