McDonald’s, the world’s number one fast-food brand, has announced that it will begin selling its secret Big Mac sauce in limited quantities in the United States.
The Big Mac sauce is considered one of McDonald’s top secrets, and it has garnered significant attention in the local market.
According to Taiwanese media outlet ETtoday, the sauce went on sale in the US last month, beginning on the 27th.
The Big Mac, which was first introduced in 1968, is one of McDonald’s signature menu items, celebrating its 55th anniversary this year. While McDonald’s has released various sauces such as sweet chili, sour sauce, Cajun sauce, and honey sauce over the years, the Big Mac sauce has never been officially sold until now.
However, there was an exception in 2017 when McDonald’s gave away 10,000 bottles of the sauce as part of a promotional event, but it was not officially sold. In the UK, one bottle of the Big Mac sauce was auctioned off for £65,900 (approximately $89,000 USD at the time), causing a stir.
McDonald’s stated that it decided to sell the Big Mac sauce because many customers who ordered the Big Mac in recent years had requested additional sauce.
In particular, even a petition was created on Change.org, the world’s largest petition site, demanding that McDonald’s provide Big Mac sauce on all its burgers.
In response, McDonald’s hinted at the sale of the sauce in a post on its social media page on April 19th, stating “My secret sauce is out,” and officially announced the sale on May 1st.
However, the sale of the Big Mac sauce is limited, and it can only be purchased through the McDonald’s app. Furthermore, it is not sold separately, but is only offered as an additional option when purchasing nuggets, burgers, and other items.
The Big Mac sauce released in the US is currently not available in Korea.
The Big Mac sauce is known to contain mustard, diced pickles, vinegar, onion, corn syrup, and preservatives, among other ingredients. However, the exact ratios of these ingredients have not been disclosed, making it difficult to replicate the exact taste.
