She is not only engaged but also pregnant! Michelle Williams just broke the news before ending 2019.
She is engaged also to an award-winning director of Hamilton, Thomas Kail. They are expecting their first child together.
What is surprising about this is that their matchmaker was the actress’s daughter, Matilda, who is 14 years old, according to a source. The daughter is a shared child with the late actor, Heath Ledger.
During the interview with Vanity Fair in 2018, Williams was asked about finding another love after the death of Ledger 10 years ago. She said, “ I never gave up on love.” She added, “I always say to Matilda, “Your dad loved me before anybody thought I was talented, or pretty, or had nice clothes.”
She talked about her parenting with Matilda. “Every morning, we wake up, and I wait to see if the transformation has happened and if it’s turned into the next level I keep hearing about, but we’re not there yet.”
On raising her child as a single parent, “When you’re a single parent, and that element of provider and protection is missing, it’s scary.”
She and the late actor dated for three years during the filming of Brokeback Mountain in 2005 separated when Matilda was only two years old.
Williams has been silent about her personal private life and that she likes to help the people. “I don’t want to talk about any of it. But what if this helps somebody?” She continued, “What if somebody who has always journeyed in this way, who has struggled as much as I struggled, and looked as much as I looked, finds something that helps them?”
The couple was seen while Williams was filming Venom 2. She was seen shopping for baby clothes at Seraphina’s Maternity boutique in Kensington, London. There still were no comments regarding it.
Kail directed Williams for the movie Fosse/ Verdon, which won her an award for Emmy as the lead actress. He also won an Emmy for his direction of Grease: Live. The director is a close friend of Lin-Manuel Miranda and directed the musical In the Heights.
In 2003, they worked together in a hip-hop show Freestyle Love Supreme. That led to another hit Broadway shows which Miranda created, and Kail directed.
Miranda said in a Vogue interview, “I had all this ambition, some talent and not much of a clue how to get there, and he saw the path.”
Kail worked with Williams, who played as an actress and dancer, Gwen Verdon. The series is about five decades and followed the story that was choreographed by Bob Fosse. This show earned the couple individual Emmy Awards and Best Director earlier of 2019.
In that last part of the interview, she said, “Don’t settle. Don’t settle for something that feels like a prison or is hard, or hurts you. If it doesn’t feel like love, it does not love.”
Williams also mentioned, “I parent to let Matilda feel free to be herself, and I am finally loved by someone who makes me feel free.”
Congrats on becoming engaged Michelle Williams!
