The daily usage of Netflix in Korea hit an all-time high on the 11th of this month with about 5.32 million users. This surge in viewership is largely attributed to the release of the second part of the Netflix original drama “The Glory”, which has been steadily gaining popularity.
According to WiseApp, a Korean mobile data analysis company, the daily usage of the Netflix app on the 10th was around 4.88 million, and it increased to about 5.32 million on the 11th. This is the highest number of daily users ever recorded among Korean Android and iOS smartphone users.
The number of users on the 10th was also the highest ever recorded at that time. Compared to the 9th (about 3.31 million), the day before the release of “The Glory” Part 2, the number of users increased by 61% in just one day.
Compared to the release of Part 1 of “The Glory” on December 30th last year (about 3.49 million), the number of daily users on the 11th increased by 52%. This shows how much viewers were anticipating the thrilling revenge drama of the protagonist, Moon Dong-eun (played by Song Hye-kyo).
“The Glory” Part 2 portrays the story of a victim of school violence, Moon Dong-eun, who seeks revenge after becoming an adult. The drama has been receiving rave reviews from viewers worldwide, topping the “Top TV Shows” category in 35 countries on the online video service (OTT) ranking chart, Flix Patrol, and ranking 2nd worldwide.
