Samsung Electronics has announced plans to supply bespoke air conditioners to 13,640 energy-vulnerable households across South Korea as part of a government-supported initiative. The project aims to improve energy efficiency among low-income households and will be implemented through the Korean Energy Foundation’s “Energy Efficiency Improvement Project for Low-Income Households”.
The wall-mounted air conditioners, including the bespoke Wind-Free™ and the wide product lineup, will be supplied to the selected households by the end of June in the order determined by each local government authority. The devices will be sent to citizens living in poverty, low-income groups recommended by local government officials, and other energy welfare dead zones.
By turning on the Wind-Free™ mode, these households can save up to 77% of power consumption compared to the maximum cooling mode. Additionally, the AI-powered saving mode further reduces energy consumption, which helps alleviate the burden of high electricity bills.
The air conditioners also come with other features such as “Fast Cooling,” which can quickly lower indoor temperatures during hot summer days, and “Wide Wind-Free™ Cooling,” which keeps the indoor environment comfortable without the need to worry about direct wind. The devices also include “Tropical Night Comfort” which automatically adjusts the temperature and operation mode for comfortable sleeping, and the “Easy Care 5 Step” function that allows for easy device management without expert help.
“Samsung Electronics has been chosen to supply Wind-Free™ air conditioners to vulnerable households as the spring temperature is expected to exceed the average and summer is expected to be even hotter,” said Oh Se-chul, Vice President and Head of Samsung Electronics Korea. “We hope that our support can improve the living environment of energy-vulnerable households.”
