Samsung Electronics (005930) is set to release the budget LTE (Long-Term Evolution) smartphone Galaxy A24, priced around $227, sometime this month.
According to industry sources on the 6th, Samsung’s cost-effective smartphone Galaxy A24 is expected to be sold no later than next month.
Compared to the expensive Galaxy S and Galaxy Z series, the Galaxy A series has slightly lower performance. However, it is a strategic product that helps Samsung Electronics maintain its position as the top smartphone vendor in the global market, relying on its value-for-money advantage.
The A24 is a lower-end lineup product than the A34, which was released domestically on March 31st. In the A series, the higher the first digit of the model number, the higher the specifications.
This product is equipped with a 6.5-inch display, a 90Hz screen refresh rate, a 50-megapixel main camera, a 5000mAh large-capacity battery, 25W wired charging speed, and IP67 waterproof and dustproof functions.
The major difference from the previous model (A23) is the rear camera design. The “Contour Cut,” which surrounds the camera with metal, has been replaced with a “Waterdrop” design that arranges the cameras in a row.
The suggested retail price is likely to be in the mid-to-high $227 range. The Galaxy A23 was also sold for $283.68.
Samsung Electronics is expected to deploy an aggressive marketing strategy to increase sales of the Galaxy A lineup this year.
Daniel Araujo, executive vice president of Samsung Electronics’ MX business, said at the “2022 Q4 earnings release conference call” in January that “the impact of the decline in sales of low- to mid-priced smartphones due to the expected deterioration in performance was significant” and that “we will overcome the market’s negative growth by expanding sales of smartphones in the low-to-mid-priced market through active use of various sales programs based on business partnerships.”
Meanwhile, there are expectations that the Galaxy A54 could be released as the SK Telecom exclusive smartphone ‘Galaxy Quantum 4’ in the first half of this year. There are also expectations that the mid-premium smartphone Galaxy S23 FE (Fan Edition) could be unexpectedly released in the fourth quarter.
