Trump Gave Wrong Info After Saying He Knows South Korea ‘More Than Anybody’

During the press briefing of President Trump press on the novel coronavirus, he said that he knows South Korea better than anyone else.

But that was before Trump gave the wrong figure of South Korea of 28 million.

According to a PBS reporter Yamiche Alcindor, “You said several times “that the United States has ramped up testing, but the United States is still not testing per capita as many people as countries like South Korea. Why is that, and when do you think that that number will be on par with other countries?”

President Trump replied, “It’s very much on par. Look, per capita – we have areas of the country that’s very large.” He continued; I know South Korea better than anybody. It’s a very tight (sic). Do you know how many people are in Seoul? Do you know how big the city of Seoul is? 38 million people. More significant than anything we have. Thirty-eight million people all tightly wound together.”

But the truth is Seoul’s population is less than 10 million. It might be that the president got confused Seoul with Tokyo, known to be the most significant metropolitan where it has almost 38 million in population. Others also said that it is 38 meters above sea level and hence maybe the confusion of “38m”.

In the US, it has been reported that it is the country that has the highest daily death rate due to the coronavirus, and now more cases are increasing tremendously over time.

Earlier, the president said that the country is leading in terms of coronavirus tests but seems to show otherwise. The vice president said that the testing kits for COVID-19 are not enough. There has been some recent drive through testing sites that are not yet in order as well.

In the past, it has been known that South Korea was one of the first countries to acquire the coronavirus outbreak and got 10,000 cases, but because of their programmed of mass testing and social distancing measures, they were able to lower down their cases.

Just On Monday, a 9-year-old girl was hospitalized at the Asan Medical Center and was tested positive for the coronavirus on Tuesday. This concerned many over transmission in one of the biggest hospitals in South Korea.

The girl was treated for non-respiratory symptoms in a single room but was transferred to a negative pressure room when it was discovered that she was positive, according to the Seoul Hospital.

She also visited the St. Mary’s Hospital in the Gyeonggi Province, nearby. It was, however, declared that she was tested negative when she arrived at Asan Medical Center.

This hospital has a capacity of 2700 beds. The other facilities, including its children’s emergency center, has been shut down until further notice.

Furthermore, the Uijeongbu Hospital has ten positive cases and is going to close on Wednesday at 8 am and reopen on Monday if there will be no additional cases. On the lighter side, they will be continuing to treat the in-patients who are currently in there.
