Black hole’s first image, captured by the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) in 2019, has been enhanced using machine learning algorithm called PRIMO.
The new image, published in The Astrophysical Journal Letters, shows a clearer and sharper view of the black hole’s gas and central region. The PRIMO algorithm was developed by astrophysicists at Princeton University, who analyzed over 30,000 simulated gas accretion images of black holes.
This enhanced image will enable scientists to measure the physical properties of the M87 black hole more accurately and understand black hole physics better.
