Courtney Stodden divorced again her on-an-off husband of 9 years, Doug Hutchison. Stodden was a former Celebrity Big Brother contestant.
She was 16 when she married Hutchinson while he was 50 in 2011. It was a very controversial wedding that was all over the tabloids.
She was an aspiring actor and Hutchison, also an actor, served as her mentor. They had a courtship that was approved by her mom.
The 35-year gap made the headline. They separated in 2013 and was remarried the next year. In 2018, she filed a divorce.
On Tuesday, she shared on her Instagram:
“It’s March 3rd, 2020 — today I am officially divorced from actor Doug Hutchison. It’s an emotional day for me. God only knows how he’s feeling, but I can tell you that it’s for the better. I look back at this picture and feel taken advantage of.
I’ve been scared to even speak up about feeling groomed or being verbally abused during the almost 10-year marriage because I was a child and he was 50 when we married but I’m a woman now and it’s time for me to put my big girl pants on and speak on this matter.
I’ve felt completely trapped, manipulated and at times abandoned by adults // growing up in such an environment — it became a lonely and dark place. Stay tuned for my book.
And to Doug… I’ll always love you, yet I’ll always be angry. You’ve left me — a child-woman, feeling belittled and confused. These things I shall overcome.
I wish you well. But please don’t ever do this to another minor again. It’s not right… even if the parent signs off. Wait a respectable amount of time before marrying. Children aren’t on your level. I’ll always love you regardless. Be better. As shall I.”
In January, Stodden was reported to have attempted suicide by hanging and she had depression in 2017 after she had a miscarriage during her marriage to Hutchison.
Many of her fans and supporters sent support and messages after she shared on her Instagram. Many of whom were disgusted with Hutchison and wished that she would be able to find peace.
According to the manager of Hutchison, Charles Lago, “This whole business with Courtney right now is initiated by the fact that Doug has a biography out on March 10.”
Hutchison said that the post was made in retaliation for his recent accusation regarding the fake pregnancy and miscarriage she was talking about to get attention and make money from paid interviews.
A spokesperson from his side said, “FYI, Courtney should probably get the length of her marriage correct, (six years not ten).”
During the press for the Flushing Hollywood: Fake News, Fake Boobs, Hutchinson was talking about his marriage with Stodden saying, “I shot my career in the head for love.
And in doing so, I lost my family and friends. I was suddenly on the Titanic and everyone was fleeing except for me and Courtney. Now, I have nothing to lose but, to tell the truth.
