Former U.S. President Barack Obama has denounced the Donald Trump administration’s response to the new coronavirus infection as an “absolute Chaotic Disaster.”
CNN on the 9th (local time) obtained and released a 30-minute recording of Obama’s phone conversation with former White House aides the night before. Criticizing the Trump administration’s response to Corona 19, he stressed that the Democratic Party should unite around former Vice President Joe Biden to defeat President Trump in the upcoming presidential election in November and form a strong government.
Obama announced his support for Biden, his running mate, on April 14. He is also known to have exerted influence over Senator Bernie Sanders’ abandonment of the race. The phone call was also made with the aim of encouraging his former aides to help Biden win the race.
“The upcoming presidential election is very important in every way,” Obama said. “We are not just fighting individuals or certain political parties, we are fighting a long-standing trend that has shocked American life, such as selfishness, building groups, division, and treating others as enemies.”
“This is one of the reasons for the lack of response to the global crisis and the loophole,” he said. “It could have been bad even if there was the best government.” “However, the idea of ‘what good is that for me?’ and ‘I’m not interested in others’ has worked for our government, and (the situation) has become a completely confusing disaster,” he said.
Obama said, “So I’m going to spend my time for Biden and do my best to campaign,” adding, “I hope all of you feel the same urgency as I do.”
Former President Obama’s side declined to comment or elaborate on the recording file, CNN said. In a commentary to CNN, White House spokesman Kaylie McCannani countered that President Trump’s response to Corona 19 was unprecedented and saved the lives of many Americans.
