On the first day of the album’s release, Rosé broke the first-week sales record of K-pop female solo artists with just one day.
According to Hanteo Chart, Rosé’s first solo single, ‘R’ was sold about 280k copies during the day as soon as it was released on the 16th. This is the highest single record of female solo artists in Korea and nearly twice as much as the weekly album sales of classified female singers. As ‘R’ had more than 500k pre-orders alone, it is expected that the final first-week record will increase further.
In particular, Rose proved her powerful influence by setting a new record as a single, not as a full-length album with average high sales. The title track ‘On The Ground,’ which was released earlier on the 12th, also topped the Hanteo Chart music category daily, signaling popularity will grow more. On the first day of its release, the song reached the top of iTunes’ top song charts in 51 countries, including the U.S., and ranked 8th on the Spotify Global Top 50 chart. It also topped the digital album sales chart of QQ Music, China’s most prominent music site.
The music video for ‘On the Ground’ is also drawing attention. The music video, which topped YouTube’s ‘Most watched video in 24 hours’ on the first day of its release, currently has more than 84 million views. Looking at the trend so far, when the number of views has exceeded 100 million is also expected to be a new record for K-pop female solo artists.
Rose will continue her ‘R’ schedule by appearing on NBC’s ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ on the 17th (local time in the U.S. on the 16th).
