Another tragic day for Oklahoma today. There was a Walmart shooting that occurred in Duncan and three people were confirmed dead, according to Guardian.

In a statement, the Duncan Police said, “We can confirm shooting in Walmart parking lot. There was one female and one male were killed in a car. Later, another male outside of the car. A handgun found on the scene”.

The identification of the victims is not yet available as of the moment. A witness said that a man confronted the suspect with a gun also and was able to shoot himself. One of the speculations was that it began as a domestic dispute between a couple. The husband shooting the wife before he killed himself.

The shooter may be one of the deceased men, as cited by the Duncan Banner. Currently, the local police department, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Stephens County Sheriff’s Office. They were participating in the investigation.

Reports said that it could be domestic violence, but there was no confirmation from the authority. The shooter left the scene and called an alert to the powers that the suspect was wearing all black. However, it was later revealed that he was shot as well.

The authorities received a call just before 10 in the morning that gunfires were heard in the area southwest of Oklahoma City.

Walmart’s spokesman, Payton McCormick, told USA TODAY that no staff involved in the shooting. They added that there wasn’t any need to evacuate. “As this is an active police investigation, we are currently referring additional questions to law enforcement and assisting, however possible. This was an isolated incident in the parking lot. It was different from the active shooter situation,” he added.

The schools in the area were locked down for a moment. They don’t believe that there was any threat to the school, but as a protocol, schools were placed on lockdown.

Schools will go on with their usual schedule, but no visitors will be able to go inside the facilities until the police say so. Ace Hardware, a nearby hardware store were notified, but the store went on as usual for them.

Fenwick said, “We are not on lockdown or anything, but we were told to be on the lookout for someone in black clothing. We are alright. A nursing home across Walmart was also informed, albeit there was nothing to worry about. Gregston said that “everything is in control.” This facility has 72 residents and locked down their property from their alert system.

Duncan has a population of 25,000 people in Stephens County and is 80 miles from Oklahoma City.

The latest shooting from Walmart in El Paso, Texas, left 22 people dead on August 3, both inside the parking lot and the Cielo Vista Supercenter. They recently just opened several days ago.

The Duncan Police Department is asking people to avoid the said area while they are still investigating. They are tapering a section of the parking lot where the shooting was done.
