Billie Eilish Nominations
Billie started in 2017 with her single “Ocean Eyes”. In a Vanity Fair interview, she spoke about all her anxiety and stress. That video earned 57 million views. Her best-selling album of the year received 40 million followers on social media.
This year’s Billboard made Billie also the Woman of the Year, even becoming the youngest artist to garner that title. The awarding will be on December 12.
According to Billboard’s Editorial Director, Hannah Karp, “Billie has disrupted the entertainment industry through her music and social media platforms, leaving an indelible impact on the global cultural zeitgeist.
Her ability to speak to the Gen-Z population, making teens and young adults feel accepted in today’s society, has quickly allowed Eilish to grow to the top of the charts, breaking the mold for this generation with her electric hair-color and sharp attitude.”
It was Billie who overthrows the longest-running No1 hit in Billboard Hot 100’s Old Town Road by Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus. She also was awarded as the first artist born this century to have a number 1 album on the chart.
More than that, she gained the first solo woman to notch four different top 10 hits on the Alternative Songs airplay chart “All the Good Girls Go to Hell” peaking at No. 6, followed by “Bad Guy” and “Bury a Friend” garnering the top spot for separate two-weeks and “You Should See Me in a Crown” at. 7.
Other Woman of the Year in the past were Ariana Grande (2018), Selena Gomez (2017), Madonna (2016), Lady Gaga (2015), Swift (2011 & 2014). On December 12, Billie will join Taylor Swift as Billboard’s Inaugural Woman of the Decade, Alanis Morrissette as the Icon, Nicki Minaj as the Game Changer, Trailblazer will be Brandi Carlile and a lot more.
No doubt 2019 is a great year for this artist, maybe the biggest ever. She will be turning 19 next month and she has earned a lot of accomplishments from her songs.
