(PRESSREELS) The group BTS will be able to be nominated for the Grammy Award for Best New Artist.

Billboard News reported on the 10th (local time) that the American Record Academy of Arts and Sciences, which hosts the Grammy Awards, announced nine key changes to the Grammy Awards and nomination process.

Among them, the best rookie artist deleted the original rule, “Artists can release no more than 30 tracks before the current qualifying year begins.”

This was why BTS was not nominated for the Rookie of the Year award at the 62nd Grammy Awards held in January this year. It is because they have already released more than 30 songs.

“We tried to quantify the definition of the best new artist, but found it almost impossible to come up with a fair figure in every situation, and we will look at each artist according to the situation,” the academy said.

In the future, the Grammy Awards screening committee will determine how prominent and famous the artist who will be nominated for the Rookie of the Year has become before that year.

Meanwhile, if BTS wins the Rookie of the Year award at next year’s Grammy Awards, it will be Korea’s first award.
