The dead body of Coty Scott Taylor was found at his home in Cayce.
Authorities are assuming that there is a connection between the death of Faye Marie Swetlik and Taylor.
According to the Cayce Public Safety Sgt. Evan Antley, on Friday, “Our evidence and our investigation do link these two together.” Antley added, “I can confirm that he was a neighbor. He was not a relative, and he was not a friend, he was merely a neighbor that lived in Churchill Heights.”
Still, there is no lead to the death of Swetlik. “Our evidence and our investigation do link these two together. I can confirm that he was a neighbor. He was not a relative, and he was not a friend, he was merely a neighbor that lived in Churchill Heights.”
The sergeant continued, “This has been a tragic situation for our community, for our department and for everyone who has been following the story of Faye Marie Swetlik.”
On Thursday, the authorities said that the death of Coty Scott Taylor might have been linked to the tragedy of the girl. They still don’t have enough evidence that is critical enough to find something.
Swetlik, the girl from South Carolina, disappeared after getting off from the bus. This week she was found dead. She went missing on Monday, and her body was found on Thursday.
According to Cayce Department of Public Safety Director Byron Snellgrove during the conference, “It is with extremely heavy hearts we’re announcing we found a body the coroner identified as Faye Marie Swetlik. “That investigation has just begun.”
The police authorities don’t believe that there is an ongoing threat to the community.
A video of a girl inside the bus and getting off it was retrieved. She was going down in their neighborhood.
According to her relatives, the last had seen her playing in their yard before it was reported that she’s missing at 5 pm on Monday.
The authorities were able to retrieve the body of Swetlik at a wooded area between her house and a NAPA auto parts store around 11 in the morning. They mentioned that her body was not there for a long time.
Moments later, the body of Coty Scott Taylor was also found in his home, just nearby the area where Swetlik was found.
Upon the record check of Taylor, there was no criminal record found and was said to be “not known to law enforcement”.
As for the death of Swetlink, there have been no arrests made, but they have considered her death as a homicide and cited that there is no danger to the community.
They added, “This is not the outcome we wanted, but this is where we are, and we are working to bring justice to Faye Marie Swetlik.”
They are still undergoing a lot of evidence, which would be concrete for the case. For anyone who has some information that could help in the investigation, they may contact the tip line at (803) 205-4444.
The parents of the girls and the mother’s partner are cooperating with the investigators.
