A former employee in Milwaukee killed multiple people when there was an open fire at the MillerCoors building on Wednesday and did a shooting spree.
Earlier during the day, he was fired and went back to the work site bringing a gun with him according to the preliminary investigation.
Eight people were shot during the incident, and their conditions are still unknown.
The mayor of Milwaukee, Mayor Tom Barrett, said that some people have died and one of them is the gunman. “There are multiple people who have died, I believe including the shooter”. He said that the situation is “Fluid: and they already have known the building.
Ald. Russel Stamper said, “The vile and heinous deadly violence that was perpetrated at the brewery complex today has no place in our society and makes no sense.”
He added, “The cold disregard for human lives and the lack of value for human life that was shown must be categorically denounced across Milwaukee, across Wisconsin and throughout our nation.”
All of their employees were notified about the active shooting in that specific Milwaukee area through the email and that it was near the second-floor stairwell of Building 4.
The police authorities immediately responded at 2:11 P.M.
As of the moment, there is no active threat. The Milwaukee Police shared on their Twitter page note at 4:47 P.M.: Update regarding the critical incident that occurred on the 4100 blocks of West State Street.
There is no active threat; however, this scene is still active.
Earlier, Molson Coors Beverage Company, the parent company of MillerCoors, made a statement: “There is an active situation at our Milwaukee facility, and we are working closely with the Milwaukee Police Department. Our top priority is our employees, and we’ll provide updates in conjunction with the police as we are able.”
After two hours of chaos, the initial report was announced, and officers were seen in their body armors holding their rifles. There were canine dogs in the area and helicopters were up in the area, including the ones from the MillerCoors company.
One of the husbands of an employee working in the building said that his wife works at the claims department and they were told that there is an active shooter. She is locked in a room together with other co-workers. She was able to text with him while inside the building.
Paramedic units of Milwaukee and West Allis were seen along with other authorities such as the U.S. Marshals, FBI, Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Several schools were locked down too.
Parents of the students from Woodlands School were there to pick up their kids but got a call from the school and informed them about the lockdown.
Many of the parents were circling the block, waiting until everything is cleared. The nearby university tweeted that there was no threat in the campus.
In 2019, the huge beer empire changed its name to Molson Coors Beverage Co.
It announced last year its plan to relocated corporate jobs from Denver to their Milwaukee Office.
Currently, it has 610 posts whereas there are 750 jobs at the West State Street.
