All Selena fans out there, get yourselves ready! A new show from Netflix will be aired soon called Selena: The Series.
It was late of 2018 when Netflix released a planned series for the life of the famous Mexican singer Selena Quintanilla and how she rose to fame.
In December, Netflix official Twitter account made an announcement
“Bidi Bidi Bom @ SelenaLaleyenda’s incredible life story is coming to Netflix as a scripted series! @selena_netflix was developed alongside and will be executive produced by The Quintanilla family.”
It has been more than 20 years ago when Selena died, but many people have still been inspired by her songs and her life.
Since she’s one of the most prominent artists in the world, some fans are still not over her death.
The Quintanilla family is helping the producers and helping them with the development of scripts and the series. However, the family is a bit protective of the image of the singer. So, fans should expect a little classic and conservative scripts probably.
Moises Zamora is the executive producer as well as the scriptwriter for Selena: The Series. It is in coordination with the Quintanilla family and Jaime Davila of Campanario Entertainment.
Every Latina actress and singer wants to be in the shoes of the portraying character. It is their dream to step out into the world as the famous Selena. Who got to play the role? Latina actress Christian Serratos will play as the big star, Selena.
If you are familiar with The Walking Dead, then you might just know her well.
Who else is joining the Netflix Selena Cast?
Selena’s brother will be played by Gabriel Chavarria, a Honduran-American actor.
Ricardo Chavira will portray as the father, and Selena’s sister will be performed by Noemi Gonzalez. Meanwhile, Seidy Lopez will act as Marcella, the mother and Madison Taylor Baez will play as Selena’s child.
Earlier this morning, November 12, Netflix aired its first teaser for the new show.
“Get your first look at Christian Serratos, who will play Selena Quintanilla in a coming of age story chronicling the iconic singer’s rise. Selena: The Series– Part 1 premiers in 2020.”
There was already a concept video that released. Shown was Serratos reading a script with the background music: Como la Flor.
She puts on her red lipstick with Selena’s hairstyle and mascara on her eyelashes.
Every fan would know what Selena wore on her last concert, so gracing in with a purple jumpsuit, Serratos walks out on the street, passing by her dad and saying hello to the daughter, Baez. This lady then looks at the camera, makes lip-sync, smiles, and the video fades outs.
The free video conveyed a little only, just enough to get a glimpse of the introduction of the newest flick that Netflix is going to air.
Serratos, on the other hand, doesn’t need to do more with her looks because the real singer, Selena, and she have quite some physical similarities.
What Netflix series promotes right now is the singer’s rise to success but nothing yet about her murder.
Let’s just wait and see!
